Valentine's TableTopper

Well, today is Super Bowl Sunday.  Are you watching the game?

We do not follow football so it is just another Sunday to us.  My husband spent his afternoon trimming trees in the back yard.  As for me, I spent the day sewing.

So, I have a question for you....do you still decorate for Valentines day after you Retired?

For me, I don't know if you want to call it decorating but I enjoy changing some things up with the Holidays, yes, even Valentines day. Like silk flowers, candles, centerpieces, wall hangings and table toppers.  I had a Valentines topper for our Dining room table, but needed one for my table in my quilt room.

I wanted something small and simple.  So I started by making hearts in assorted Batic fabrics,

Then I cut a large circle and arranged them in a circle.

I wanted to keep this simple, so I cut another circle for backing and batting.
(Gee, I think I am boring my partner, lol)

I sewed right sides together all around the edges. Then made a little slit in the center of the back to turn right sides out.
I pressed, appliquéd it by machine and quilted it.

For the back, I made a small appliqué heart to cover the slit where I turned it around.

Not fancy, but it looks good to me.

It even matches the mug rug I made earlier:

It was a fun afternoon project.  I have so many things I am doing, but sometimes it is fun to be able to start and finish a project in one day.

Hope you all had a fun day, whether sewing or watching the Super Bowl.

Till next time,

HAPPY QUILTING EVERYONE!!
