Let's get Organized

I know I haven't been on here for a while.  I have been so busy with Flowers, Gardening, went to Quilt show,  Shop hops, etc.  And of course quilting.  I have been working on a large Pinapple Paper piece quilt that is almost finished.  Top is ready to quilt, finally!  Well, everytime I finish one project, I clean and organize before starting another.

My next project was that I had to make a cover for my Featherweight.  My husband got it for me for Christmas and I have been so busy using it and having fun, that I decided it needed attention too.

I made an appliqué for the front:

I decided to put a pocket on the side, to keep my sissors with it.

Also, I wanted it kinda stiff so it would cover it and not lean on it.

I even added a little handle for the top take it on and off my machine.

I love using it....makes me feel like I am playing with a toy.
Speaking of toys, he got me one for my birthday, (made in  a 1919)....

Isn't it adorable?  It even works.  (I know what I want to collect.)

After I got my cover done, I did some cleaning and organizing in my room.

I added small spools of thread to a jar,

Some buttons on other jars,

I even made a new ironing board cover:

Now I am ready to cut my next quilt out.  I have all the fabric and my pattern in a basket all ready to go.

My next quilt is going to be a black and white Log Cabin with bright stars appliqued in the center.

And here is my boss, KC.  She was just so exhausted when I got done.
(Don't she look mad?  It's like I bothered her, taking her picture, lol)

I hope I did not bore you too much with my room.  I would live to see where YOU quilt!

Till next time....

HAPPY QUILTING EVERYONE!!!!

Shop Hop (and Tutorials)

The other day our Quilt Guild went on a shop hop through Clarkesville, Tennessee up into Kentucky.  We had sooo much fun and I wanted to share our adventure.

Last year I planned a trip for our club in Missouri and we had a blast.   So this year we decided to go the other direction.  I contacted the shops 2 months ahead of time and spoke to the owners.  (I got the hours of the shop and their complete addresses.)  Then 1 week before our trip I called each shop to give them an approximate time to expect us and how many of us were going.    First stop, was the "Clarksville Sewing Center".  They were such pleasant, happy, energetic girls.

There shop was very neatly decorated.

They specialize in selling Janome and Baby Lock machines.  They also have different classes going all the time.  We we so excited when each girl gave us a different tutorial on different techniques.

   The first was folded flowers:

Another was an easy way to make a square in a square:

They had another tutorial, but for some reason I cannot download it, sorry.

From here we had lunch at Cracker Barrel.

After that it was off to Trenton, Kentucky to "Quilt and Sew at Golden Theeads".
They too had a tutorial for us showing us an easy way to make the Lemoyne Star using the proper ruler:

From this...to this:

Their shop was small but packed full of wonderful items.

The last stop was the "Kentucky Star Quilt Shop" in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.   Here they had a large shop just full if quilting fabrics, notions and yarn.

Plus a cute little nook to sit and relax.

I hope you enjoyed seeing our trip.
Who know what we will do next year.
till next time,

HAPPY QUILTING EVERYONE!!!

Hamburger Anyone?

It's getting warmer and so are the grills.  This was a beautiful warm week.  People are planting their flowers/gardens, cleaning up their yards, And getting the grills going. While sitting out on out porch we could smell grills going somewhere almost every night.  It made me hungry and wanting to yell, "I'll take mine medium well!"

My son and his wife got me lots of fabric this past Christmas and one of the stack of fat quarters was food.

This week I got the idea as to what to make with some.
Do you remember Mr. Whimpy?

(I could't help drawing him)
and here....All layered up.

I fussy cut 1 inch squares of hamburgers for a boarder.
I quilted randomly in the center and in the ditch, in the boarder.

"I will pay you Tuesday,
for a Hamburger Today"

Ah, but what do you need for Grilling?
How about potholders?

I made these for my Daughter-in-law.

Then I made myself one.

(I need to make a few more for myself, perhaps an apron too)

So, what are you working on?
I hope you are enjoying the weather and your hamburgers on the grill.

HAPPY QUILTING EVERYONE!!
